Assoc. Prof. Larelle Fabbro
Assoc. Prof. Larelle Fabbro (PhD) has 35 years experience with water quality and toxic algae. Her background is in teaching, limnology, research and clinical biochemistry. Larelle is currently leader of the Ecotoxicology and Industrial Waters research group with the Centre for Environmental Management at CQU and a former Program Director for Environmental Sciences and Sustainability. For the past 22 years her work has centred on water quality issues in Central Queensland. Publications have covered toxic bloom analysis, water quality, monitoring and management. Research work has included investigation of the water quality and algae of the Fitzroy River during flood and drought and writing of guides to the blue?green algae of Australia. Larelle is a member of the Fitzroy Water Quality Advisory Group and a NATA biological assessor. She has had wide experience in consultancies for coal mines, power stations and private companies and is currently involved in researching the aquatic ecology and health of the Fitzroy River system and teaching a specialized postgraduate course in Water Management at CQU. She has over 25 publications in International refereed scientific and medical journals along with over 20 presentations at International and National conferences.
Professor John Rolfe
John Rolfe is a resource economist who is Professor in the Faculty of Arts, Business, Informatics and Education of the CQ University at Rockhampton. He is also the Director of the Centre for Environmental Management at the University and leader of the Environmental Economics program. John has a number of research interests, but specialises in non-market valuation, regional development, environmental, resource and agricultural economic issues, and economic impact assessment in regional areas. He has 115 refereed publications in the form of journal articles, book chapters, book reviews and conference papers, and a further 250 non-refereed journal articles, conference papers and research reports. John has led a number of major research projects (> 30) over the past 10 years for a total funding value of more than $4.8M. He has a background in agriculture and operated a cattle property in the Central Queensland region for a number of years.
